The Android-Powered Lenovo Laptop

Lenovo clearly believes Android is ideal as an OS for devices other than smartphones and tablets-- the company launches the A10, a 10.1-inch dual-mode notebook with a "fold-back" touchscreen.

Lenovo A10It runs on Android 4.2, weighs 1kg, is 17.3mm thick and is designed for both entertainment and productivity applications. Inside are a 1.6GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 processor and a battery promising up to 9 hours of continuous video playback.

A "laptop mode" summons a Lenovo-designed custom UI complete with app launcher, file manager task bar and status bar for easy use with the full-size AccuType keyboard. Once the display is flipped around in "stand mode" the A10 turns into a touch-enabled device, with a stable hinge allowing for stable multi-touch use.

"With the recent explosive growth in Android-based, smart connected devices, customers are relying more on Android apps for both work and play," the company claims. "Why should they be required to switch and duplicate to use their laptop?"

The A10 will be available in select EMEA territories in the coming months.
