E-mail Print PDF

Amazon launches the 7th generation of Kindle eReader-- the Kindle Voyage, the "most advanced" eReader from the retailer turned hardware maker with an "all-new" design and a flush glass display.

Kindle VoyageThe display is a brighter version the one found in the Kindle Paperwhite, being a 300ppi number with a scratch-proof glass front. The display is micro-etched, which Amazon says helps light for glare-free reading and provides a paper-style feel.

Meanwhile the backlight is brighter (by 39%), automatically adjustable and fine-tunable according to personal preferences.

Another new feature is "PagePress," or a force sensor set under the bezel. Users can turn the page by lightly pressing the sensor, and it provides haptic feedback to let them know it has been turned.

Also revealed by Amazon is a new low-cost Kindle featuring a 20% faster processor, twice the storage and a touch-based interface.

The new Kindle models are available from October 2014.
