A company named SteadXP claims to have a namesake device allowing users to eliminate jitters from video shot using almost any camera, be it a GoPro, DSLR or even pro-grade cinema equipment.
The SteadXP is essentially a small box containing a 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope, as well as 32-bit ARM processor, microSD card slot and USB connectivity. It records the motion data of the shot in question in order to build a smooth, steadicam-style version.
The device is available in 2 versions-- one compatible with GoPro (Hero 2 or higher) expansion ports and the slightly heavier SteadXP+ users can plug into the coldshoe flash mount of DSLR, mirrorless and professional equipment.
For post-processing users simply need to upload the motion data from the SteadXP together with the recorded video to PC. Included software offers a number of stabilisation options, such as various action sports, horizon lock, hyerlapse, handheld footage, shoulder rig shot and virtual tripod, among others. It also reduces artifacts and adds virtual motion blur.
The SteadXP is currently available on a preorder basis on Kickstarter, with shipments estimated to start from March 2016.
