Logitech Brings Back MX518 Gaming Mouse

Logitech announces a comeback of a classic gaming mouse-- the MX518, now featuring a HERO 16K sensor and a a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M-based SoC within the same ambidextrous design from the original 2005 rodent.

The HERO sensor provides up to 16000 DPI resolution, up from the 1600 DPI of the first MX518, and users can either customise own DPI settings or scroll through 5 pre-selected settings (400, 800, 1600, 3200 and 6400) using the buttons above and below the mouse wheel. Logitech says the mouse is rated for up to 40 G maximum acceleration, as well as for up to 400 IPS (inches per minute) maximum acceleration.

Cooler Master describes the MM830 ergonomic gaming mouse as the first aimed for Massively Multiplayer Online games (MMOs), thanks to d-pad hidden in the thumb-rest area providing fast access to all manner of short cuts.

The MM830 weighs 162g, and carries a "top-of-the-line" Pixart optical sensor with sensitivity reaching up to 24000 DPI. The chassis is in PBT for durability, while Omron switches and a Japanese ALPS scroll encoder ensure snappy performance. In total the mouse has 8 programmable buttons, including the aforementioned d-pad integrated on the left hand side of the device.

Noctua Intros NT-H2 Thermal Compound

Cooling specialist Noctua announces a 2nd generation thermal compound-- NT-H2, an "enthusiast-grade" paste consisting of a mixture of fine-tuned metal oxide and microparticles for lower thermal resistance and reduced bond-line thickness.

NT-H2 is a successor to NT-H1, a thermal compound Noctua released back in 2007. The updated compound promises even better performance in most application scenarios, since it shows up to 2°C lower temperatures in standardised internal tests at various platforms and heat loads. Excellent long-term stability means it does need a break-in period, and it can be used on the CPU for up to 5 years.

The NFC Forum presents means to charge NFC-enabled IoT devices through a single antenna, with a power transfer rate of up to 1 watt-- the Wireless Charging Candidate Technical Specification (WLC).

The WLC enables a single antenna in the NFC-enabled device to manage both communications and charging. Such a solution should allow for easier charging of low-power IoT devices, such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, headsets and other consumer devices. It uses the 13.56MHz base frequency, and leverages the NFC communication link to control power transfer.

EVGA claims the NU Audio Card offers audiophile-grade audio quality, allowing users to listen to both subtle sounds and powerful explosions for a more immersive audio experience. To do so the card leverages on the expertise of Audio Note UK, being built using audio-grade capacitors and resistors installed on a silver- and gold-plated multilayer PCB. Further improving quality are isolated dual-ground planes for analogue and digital circuitry, while the power supply promises to be both low noise and regulated.

Belkin launches the BoostCharge range of cables at CES 2019, with the most interesting product being USB-C to Lightning cables, the first made by the company to receive official approval from Apple itself.

The Boost Charge line also includes a USB-A to Lightning cable, as well as a USB-A to USB-C option. All cables promise increased durability and strength, and include a leather strap to prevent tangles and help in organisation. The cables come in a black and white speckled design, and are available in 1.2, 1.8 and 3m lengths.
