MiPadXiaomi launches the first tablet running on the latest Nvidia mobile system-on-a-chip, the Tegra K1-- the MiPad, a 7.9-inch number featuring a 2048x1536 display, 2GB RAM and 16/64GB storage.

The Tegra K1 SoC runs at 2.2GHz with a "4+1" core CPU and a 192-core Kepler CPU, allowing for "visual and parallel computing capabilities never seen in mobile devices before," at least according to Nvidia.

As for the MiPad, it also features a 6700mAh battery, stereo speakers, 8MP rear-/5MP front-facing cameras and microSD slot. Connectivity comes via wifi and Bluetooth radios, all inside a plastic body 8.5mm thick and 360g heavy.

Xiaomi says the MiPad will be available in beta test form in China from early June 2014, with no word on global availability as yet.
