Asus plays around with combination of "Pad" and "Fone" at MWC 2013-- the company reveals the 3rd generation Padfone and the Fonepad, an oversized smartphone/call-capable tablet.

Padfone InfinityIf one recalls, the Padfone is an Android smartphone with a companion tablet-style dock. The latest version bears the name Padfone Infinity and carries a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, a Snapdragon S4 1.7GHz quad-core processor and 64GB of internal storage inside a unibody design Asus says is "crafted from aerospace-grade aluminium."

Meanwhile the tablet dock has a 10-inch display and boosts battery life from 19 hours to up to 40 hours, with enough battery capacity to recharge the docked smartphone up to x3 times.

FonepadThe second Asus MWC 2013 announcement is the Fonepad-- a 7-inch tablet with built-in 3G voice and mobile data connectivity allowing for use as an oversized mobile phone of sorts.

Similar in look and size to the Google Nexus 4 tablet, the Fonepad features an aluminium body, weighs 340g and carries an Android-compatible Intel Atom Z2420 processor together with either 8 or 16GB of internal storage and a variety of Asus-exclusive productivity apps.
