Huawei takes to Paris to present the P20 Pro-- a flagship addition to the P20 smartphone line featuring a rear-facing camera with not one, not two, but three lenses.

Huawei P20 ProThe result, according to the camera, is an optically-stabilised telephoto camera with either 3x optical or 5x hybrid zoom. One lens is telephoto and snaps with an 8MP sensor, another features a 40MP colour sensor and the final lens provides 20MP monochrome data. Once a photo is taken the phone combines the data from the 3 sensors into a single 10MP shot using a technique Huawei calls "Light Fusion."

In addition, the camera array allows ISO speeds up to 102400, handheld long exposures with AIS (AI Image Stabilisation), slow motion video up to 960fps and a super snapshot mode able to take photos from the off screen in as little as 0.3s, 4D predictive focus and AI-assisted composition. The front-facing camera is also impressive, since it features a 24.8MP CMOS sensor with 3D portrait lighting.

As for the actual phone, the P20 Pro carries a 6.1-inch 2440 x 1080 OLED display with a notch for the front-facing camera, 2.3GHz Kirin 970 octa-core processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 4000mAh battery promising up to 25 hours of talk time on a single charge. A hardware home button in the buttom holds the fingerprint sensor, and connectivity comes through USB-C port.

The all-glass body is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance, and comes in four colours-- black, midnight blue, pink gold and twilight. The phone also comes as a fancier variant dubbed the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS, with higher resolution 2880 x 1440 resolution display, 256/512GB storage and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is also uch pricer, at an eye watering €2095.

Both P20 Pro and Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS ship from April 2018.
