The G8S retains the same triple-lens rear-facing camera setup as the G8. It features a 137-degree field of view, the widest in an LG smartphone yet, as well as continuous zoom, bokeh effects and stabilisation enhancements to video. The front-facing camera also promises improvements, since it uses IR and "3D point clouds" for more accurate face-based unlocking, even in the dark, as well as the simulation of studio lighting in selfies.

As for the rest of the phone, the G8S carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor amd a 6.2-inch 2248 x 1080 resolution OLED display together with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. A 3.5mm jack is also included, with a DAC boosting audio. LG says the phone offers both MIL-STD 810G compliance and IP68 water and dust resistance, and it is designed for easy one-handed operation.

LG should announce the actual availability dates of the G8S on a later date.
