Asus launches the first motherboard bearing Thunderbolt 2 certification-- the Z87-Deluxe/Quad ATX, a Z87-based number ready for 4th generation Intel Core processors.

It has pair Thunderbolt 2 ports allowing the simultaneous connection of 12 devices with a 20Gbit/s transfer rate.

“Z87-Deluxe/Quad has been subjected to tremendous compatibility, BIOS validation, video/audio and other tests to verify its quality and design," a company statement claims. "Being the world’s first certified motherboard for Thunderbolt 2 technology also means setting the standard for all of the upcoming products, which is something that Asus has always done.”

Further features include 10 SATA-6 ports, 8 USB 3.0 ports and 3 PCIe/2.0 x 16 slots, as well as utilities such as Dual Intelligent Processors 4 (dynamically adjusts performance and cooling), UEFI BIOS and NFC Express (automates common PC tasks via NFC tag or compatible devices).
