Sharp shows the press a number of upcoming technologies at its Tokyo HQ-- including a Dynabook-branded All-in-One (AiO) PC featuring a 31.5-inch IGZO display able to handle resolutions reaching up to 8K.

8K Sharp DynabookAs Japanese news site PC Watch reports, while the Dynabook AiO is currently in prototype form it is set to become an actual commercial product. In addition, the display will be available separately for use with other PCs. Details of the actual machine are scant, but Sharp claims it has enough horsepower (and what it calls "AI-optimised screen division technology) to push 7680 x 4320 resolution images with 120Hz refresh.

Such visuals would also require minimum bandwidth of 120Gbps or 15GB/s, demanding use of up to 4 inputs. Sharp says the machine will also be upgradeable, allowing users to replace the video card and memory, among other components, and it will be powerful enough to handle the editing of 8K video.

Sharp has other 8K products on show, such as a compact 8K video camera previously seen at CES 2019, an 8K security camera, the standalone version of the 8K monitor and a workstation able to edit 8K images. Also seen is the Sharp take on the foldable smartphone display featuring a vertical orientation, making it reminiscent of the flip-style phone of old.
