The compact Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) range gets a next generation addition at CES 2020-- "Ghost Canyon", an option large enough to fit a desktop graphics card, making it more ideal for gamer customers.

Ghost Canyon NUCAllowances to fit regular GPUs make Ghost Canyon, also known as the Intel NUC 9 Extreme Kit, larger than other products in the Intel mini-PC range. In fact, it is more of a mini-desktop machine, if anything else. Intel is still to fully detail this latest NUC iteration, but does say it is powered by 9th gen Core H series processors ranging from Core i5 to Core i9, including a high-end Core i9 in an unlocked SKU.

The high-end Ghost Canyon SKU is based on the Intel Compute Element system, meaning it allows for CPU upgrades by replacement a core component housing the motherboard, CPU and I/O. Customers can also add a discrete graphics card, so long it fits inside the 5l chassis. Further features include x4 USB 3.0, x2 RJ-45, x1 HDMI, x2 Thunderbolt and x1 audio combo ports on the back, plus x2 USB and x1 audio port on the front, together with what looks like an SD card reader.

Intel should reveal more details, including a possible launch window, following CES 2020.
