A gaming hardware announcement from Chinese brand Zhongashan Subor provides a glimpse of future AMD offerings-- a semi-custom SoC bringing together a Ryzen CPU with Vega graphics.

The high-performance SoC consists of a 4-core/8 thread Ryzen CPU running at 3GHz and a 1.3GHz 24CU Vega GPU. Also included in chip are 8GB of GDDR5 RAM. The chip will power a "new gaming PC and upcoming console" aimed at the Chinese market revealed at ChinaJoy, the largest game and digital entertainment exhibition in China and Asia.

The announcement is interesting, what with the company being beind the hardware powering both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As such, it comes to no surprise that the design for the SoC appears to be more console-like, since it combines the CPU and GPU, while the GDDR5 memory controller is integrated into the chip. However AMD adds the SoC supports other technologies, such as FreeSync, Adrenalin software and Ubisoft's Rapid Packed Math, confirming it as a true Vega design.

The Subor gaming PC featuring the semi-custom SoC, dubbed the Z+, hits the Chinese market on August 2018. The games console, which runs on a custom OS, should follow by end 2018.
