Lenovo announces it is working on a Project Tango-enabled smartphone at CES 2016, a collaboration with Google in consumer mobile devices equipped with depth perception.
Google revealed Project Tango back in 2014. A brainchild of the search giant's Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group, the project involves granting devices “human-like understanding of space and motion" through sensors and camera vision co-processors. So far it has only been seen in the wild in the shape of a couple of prototype devices-- a 5-inch smartphone and a 7-inch tablet, both carrying 2 back cameras, IR depth sensors and software handling 3D image capture.
Details on the Lenovo Tango-enabled device are lacking, since the company is still working on the final design. However it does say the device will be "less than 6.5-inches" in size and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
