CTIA, the American answer to Europe’s Mobile World Conference, gave Microsoft a chance to announce Internet Explorer Mobile will be available to phone makers in the Q3 (with the first phones to go on sale by year end).
Before iPhone was launched (with a combined phone, browser and music player), cell phones mostly showed stripped-down web versions.
Microsoft also announces Windows Mobile 6.1 and expects mobile OS sales to outpace smartphone growth (to quadruple in 3 to 4 years to about 400 million handsets).
