Barnes & Noble Brightens Nook eReaders

E-mail Print PDF

Are eReaders a dying breed? Perhaps, but Barnes & Noble continues pushing the Nook brand with the GlowLight, a smaller, lighter eReader refresh with an improved display complete with backlighting.

Nook GlowlightMade in white and gray plastic with soft-touch edges, the GlowLight features a 6-inch E-Ink Pearl display similar (if not identical) to the one found the Kindle Paperwhite-- even if BN insists the display eliminates page flashing thanks to tweaks to both software and manufacturing process.

The device weighs 175g, and BN claims the battery offers up to 8 weeks of use.

In further attempts at differentiation from the Amazon-powered competition the on-device eBook store also sees updates, with a human-curated recommendation system (a digital version of the curated tables found in BN brick-and-mortar stores) replacing the usual algorithms.
