According Re/code the new iPad will be launched on 16 October, during an event where Apple will reveal its next generation of tablets together with a new iMac lineup and the next OS X release.
Previous speculation suggested the iPad event is to take place on 21 October. For anyone interested the 2013 iPad event (which saw the announcement of the iPad Air, 2nd generation iPad mini and OSX Mavericks) took place on 22 October.
Bloomberg adds Apple will a reveal 9.7-inch iPads in a new colour, specifically gold, in an attempt to improve sales. If this is the case the iPad colour palette should be in line with that of the iPhone 5s.
No such luck for the rumoured 12.9-inch iPad though, the Bloomberg sources continue, as the oversized tablet will not be announced before 2015.
What else can we expect from the next Apple event? Re/code says the new iPad launch should be a more laid-back affair than that of the iPhone 6. It reportedly takes place at the Apple Town Hall Auditorium, Cupertino, and will involve no mysterious white structures or awkward musical numbers. As for the online streaming, we can only hope it will actually work time around…
