The Raspberry Pi micro-PC gets an official touchscreen accessory-- the result of 2 years of development following issues with standards, connectivity and manufacturers.
Based on an industrial-quality Inelco Hunter display, the touchscreen is a 7-inch 800x480 resolution number offering 10-point capacitive touch input. It connects to the Raspberry Pi via DSI (display serial interface) connector, allowing users to connect a second monitor via HDMI port.
Power comes through either separate power supply (500mAh) or the Raspberry Pi's "PWR OUT" GPIO connector.
The touchscreen is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B, Raspberry Pi Model B+ and Raspberry PI Model A+. It is available now in a package complete with adaptor board, DSI ribbon cable, stand offs and screws, jumper wires and a perspex layer frame.
