A startup named LMcable takes to Kickstarter to produce what it claims is a first cable featuring a 2-in-1 connector able to charge both Lightning and micro USB devices.
Described as "the only charging cable you ever need," the LMcable has a reversible connector offering Lightning connectivity on one side and a micro USB on the other. In addition the product features a a 1m long stitched leather cable complete with tin-plated copper wires and a brass knuckle for easy coiling.
However the LMcable comes with a couple of caveats-- it lacks MFi certification, and one doubts it would manage to pass strict Apple guidelines required for official iPhone accessories. Meanwhile the peculiar design lacks the reversibility of official Lightning cables.
Either way the idea captured the imagination of enough potential customers to smash a $5000 AUD initial funding goal (at time of writing pledges clock at around $180000 AUD). If all goes to LMcable plans the cable should ship by April 2016.
