Asus ROG announces a sibling to the GX700 gaming laptop-- the G701, a 17-inch number offering similar graphical power if without the perhaps cumbersome cooling desk dock.
As such, the G701 lacks the cooling required for overclocking duties, but still offers some tweaking options through ROG Gaming Centre software. It is also described as a VR-ready machine, as it carries an Intel i7 6820HK CPU, GeForce GTX 980 GPU, 8 to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and either dual-512 or 256GB SSDs in RAID 0 configuration (no ODD).
Connectivity comes through x1 USB-C, x3 Thunderbolt and x3 USB 3.0 ports.
The display comes in 2 versions-- either 1080p or UHD, both with G-Sync and WideView technology. Asus also adds an ESS Sabre headphone DAC and an anti-ghosting keyboard with 30-key rollover.
Availability details for the G701 are still to be provided by the company.
