French drone maker Parrot announces a foldable addition to its portfolio-- the Anafi, a drone weighing all of 320g customers can fold into a slender package for easy carrying.

Parrot AnafiNamed after the Greek island, the Anafi carries a 21MP camera on a 180-degree tilt gimbal able to record 4K HDR video at 30fps (or 1080p video at 60fps). The extra resolution sensor allows for lossless 2.8x or 1.4x digital zoom when recording in HD and 4K, respectively. Further camera features include a hyper-lapse mode allowing one to speed footage up to 240x, slo-mo and a high frame rate mode up to 60fps. Video and photo storage comes on microSD card.

Drone setup promises to be easy, since it simply involves flipping out the arms before pressing the power button. Parrot says the drone flies for up to 25 minutes on a single charge, and users can swap the battery out for more flying time. The battery charges via USB-C with fast charging, and takes around 90 minutes to reach full capacity.

The companion FreeFlight 6 smart device app provides control, and users can fit their smartphone into the hardware controller for physical joysticks and lossless, constant video streaming. Operating range reaches around 4km over wifi, and the drone automatically switches between 2.4 and 5GHz frequencies depending on how congested the air is with other signals.

The Anafi should ship from July 2018.
