Kickstarting a Second Laptop Display

E-mail Print PDF

The DUO promises to be a "completely portable dual-screen laptop accessory" customers simply attack to the back of any notebook to add at least some measure of multitasking capability.

Duo monitorMaker Mobile Pixels says the DUO is a true plug-and-play dual-display laptop solution. It consists of a 12.5-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS display users attach to the lid of the notebook via magnetic mounting system. Once attached, the display slides out from the side whenever required, just like the second display of the 2009 Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds.

In addition, users can fully slide out the DUO and fold it to the opposite side for a presentation mode. The display connects to laptops via USB-C (or USB-A via adapter), and is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and Chrome OS devices. Construction is in rugged ABS plastic and weight clocks at around 0.7kg, and as such the DUO should perhaps not be attached to ultralight notebooks.

The DUO is currently available on a preorder basis on Kickstarter, where it already made well over an initial $35000 pledge goal. Once the crowdfunding campaign is over Mobile Pixels promises shipments start on January 2019.
