The Kingston HyperX brand of gaming accessories get a new product category at Computex 2018-- microSD cards aimed at gamers and Nintendo Switch owners, since the console features a UHS-1 microSD card reader.
Available in sizes reaching up to 256GB, the HyperX microSD cards offer read/write performance of up to 80MB/s, making them slightly slower than the 95MB/s found in some other UHS-1 cards.
Computex has Kingston show off a 256GB microSDXC HyperX card complete with Application Performance Class 1 (A1) and U3 badges, meaning it has sustained performance of at least 30MB/s and the ability to install applications on the card. Such capability makes it useful for smartphones, even more so if used for gaming.
Kingston is still to announce when the HyperX-branded memory cards hit the market.
