An Acer Gaming Throne at IFA 2018

E-mail Print PDF

What can a customer buy for a gamer who has everything? The Next @ Acer IFA 2018 presentation might include a suggestion-- the Acer Predator Thronos, a gaming chair that is a sure candidate for most impressive product at the show.

Acer ThronosWhile technically a "chair," the Predator Thronos is more of a cockpit equipped with everything the serious gamer needs. It looks like something out of a futuristic arcade, and consists of a 1.5m tall chair and an imposing motorised arm able to hold three 27-inch gaming monitors in front of the user's face. Built out of steel, the setup weighs 220kg.

The chair can recline by 140-degrees, and rumbles in-sync with games. It also includes motorised footrests and a space for a gaming PC. A control pad on the left allows the user to set up the angle of the chair, footrest and monitor brace, while the front has a small table for the keyboard and mouse (but no cupholder, alas). Finally, being a piece of gamer hardware, the whole thing is adorned in LED lighting.

Acer suggests the Thronos goes well with its latest 27-inch gaming monitors-- the Predator XB273K, a 3840 x 2160 G-Sync display with 144Hz refresh rate and DisplayHDR 400 certification, and the 3840 x 2160 resolution Nitro XV273K with Radeon FreeSync, 144Hz refresh rate DisplayHDR 400 certification.
