Vivo suggests another solution to eliminated the dread front-facing camera notch-- the Nex Dual Display Edition has a second display right on the back, as paired with a rear-facing triple-camera setup.

Vivo Nex Dual DisplayThe Nex Dual Display Edition is the followup to one of the more unusual smartphones of 2018, the Nex. It features the same curvy design, but removes the pop-up selfie camera for the aforementioned dual-display solution. As such, the three cameras on the back handle all photography tasks, and consist of a primary 12MP camera, a 2MP secondary module and a 3rd f/1.3 lens paired with a time of flight (TOF) 3D module.

According to the company, the 3D camera allows for point-to-point distance measuring and secure facial recognition, as well as unspecified "personalised beautification" features. Housing the three cameras is a "lunar ring," an illuminated ring providing not only decoration but also diffused lighting for low-lit selfies and custom glowing effects for different notifications.

As for the actual device, the Nex Dual Display Edition features a 6.4-inch 2340 x 1080 resolution display on the front and a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display on the back. Both use OLED panels, and include Vivo's own in-display fingerprint sensor. Powering the defice are a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 10GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 3500mAh battery. A USB-C port provides connectivity and a headphone jack is mercifully included.

Vivo gives no word as to when the Nex Dual Display Edition will be available in Europe, but it hits Chinese markets on end December 2018.
