SK hynix pushes into the consumer storage market with the Gold S31-- the first product in the SuperCore consumer SSD range, being a 2.5-inch SATA III model available in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities.
The company says the Gold S31 SSDs are ideal for "gamers, designers and content creators," and promises "superior quality, reliability, and five-year warranty." All components making the SSDs, including the NAND flash, built-in controller, DRAM cache and firmware, are made in-house, and performance reaches up to 560MB/s read and 525MB/s write.
Precious few other details are available on the drives, but the retail listings to state the 1TB model is rated for 600TB written with the claim of 1.5 million hours MTBF.
The Gold S31 SSDs are available now in the US, but SK hynix plans to expand distribution to Europe in 2020.
