Intel Shows Off "Best Gaming Processor" at IFA

E-mail Print PDF

Intel IFA 2019Intel takes to IFA 2019 to present what it claims is "the world's best gaming processor"-- the Core i9-9900KS, a first CPU from the company to offer 5GHz all-core turbo clock speed, at least when provided with sufficient cooling.

The Intel Core i9-9900KS features 8 cores with hyper-threading running at 4GHz base frequency. Boost mode pushes the frequency to 5GHz on all cores, up 300MHz from 4.7GHz in case of the Core i9-9900K. First teased a few months ago at Computex 2019, the Core i9-9900KS was seen at IFA running Hitman 2 with all 16 threads running at 5GHz with light per-core load, something Chipzilla says demonstrates how gamers not only need higher core counts, but also better overall performance.

As well as the aforementioned desktop processor, IFA 2019 also has Intel share news on 10th gen Ice Lake designs from OEMs. According to the company, partners have managed to squeeze an average of 18% better performance compared to reference design. In addition, Intel claims leadership in ultra-mobile 25W gaming laptops, at least when comparing the Core i7-106G7 (25W) to the AMD Ryzen 3600U (25W) in 1080p graphics performance using integrated graphics.
