Microsoft Claims 900 Million Win 10 Users

Windows 10 deviceWindows 10 is running in over 900 million devices Microsoft reports, with the past 12 months adding more devices "than ever before." If growth continues at such a pace the OS is set to reach 1 billion devices by Q1 2020, at least according to Thurrott.

“Windows 10 is on more than 900 million devices!” Microsoft CVP Yusuf Mehdi tweets. “Thanks to our customers, we added more new Windows 10 devices in the last 12 months than ever before. From PCs to HoloLens to Xbox to Surface Hub, Windows continues to power innovation—with more to come next week!”

Technically one cannot confirm whether Windows 10 growth was indeed stronger over the past year, but the claim does make sense-- after all, with Windows 7 getting closer to support end of life, more businesses than ever are migrating towards the latest version of the OS. Thus the Thurrot forecast mentioned earlier. One also has to keep in mind Windows 10 finds use not only in PCs, but also the Xbox One console, the Hololens headset and, of course, any number of Surface devices.
