Dynabook-- aka the post-rebranding former Toshiba Client Solutions group-- launches a pair of interesting-looking laptops with the T8 and T9, both being 16.1-inch machines with an integrated Blu-ray/DVD burner.

Available in Stylish Blue or Satin Gold, the laptops are built in thick plastic and feature a 16.1-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS display. Beneath the display is a pair of Onkyo speakers complete with DTS software enhancement adding Dynamic Wide Sound capability. Inside the machines are an  Intel quad-core Core i7-8565U processor with UHD 620 Graphics, 8/16GB DDR4-2400 memory (T8 and T9 models, respectively), 256GB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, 1TB 5400 RPM HDD and a Blu-ray drive compatible with BD XL discs.

On the connectivity side the T8 and T9 offer Wifi 5, Bluetooth, ethernet, x3 USB-A ports, x1 USB-C port, x1 HDMI 1.4 output, SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. Also included are a 720p webcam with IR sensors for Windows Hello face recognition, microphone and a full-size keyboard with 19mm key pitch and numpad. Powering all is a battery Dynabook claims allows for up to 9 hours of use on a single charge.

The T8 and T9 laptops are available from December 2019, at least in Japan. Dynabook gives no word of bringing the two laptops to our side of the world, which is a bit of a shame since at least some customers still demand for laptop models with support for optical media.
