HyperJuice

Accessory maker Hyper takes to Kickstarter to launch the HyperJuice-- a 100W GaN charger able to deliver the maximum amount of power the USB-C standard can handle from a package the size of a pack of cards.

According to the company, the HyperJuice uses "industry-leading" Navitas GaNFast NV6117 Power IC technology to shrink down the components making traditional chargers. Use of the Gallium Nitride semiconductor allows it to power devices at higher voltages, as well as switch frequencies for smaller and more efficient chargers.

In total the charger has four USB ports, with two being USB-A and the other two USB-C. It also has a built-in foldable wall plug, and while the device ships with US-style prongs the package also includes adapters for use in both the EU and UK. In theory, the 100W capability allows the HyperJuice to charge a 15-inch MacBook Pro and iPhone 11 Pro simultaneously, at external temperatures running lower than 60ºC (in comparison, the industry standard is 65ºC) and 95% AC/DC efficiency.

As mentioned earlier, the HyperJuice is currently available on a preorder basis on Kickstarter, where it already exceeded an initial $100000 pledge goal. Shipments are set to start on February 2020.
