Sony continues the slow drip feeding of PlayStation 5 details with the presentation of the controller-- the DualSense, a departure from the familiar DualShock clad in a striking two-tone black and white design.

According to the company, the DualSense keeps what gamers love about the DualShock 4 while adding more functionality. For instance, the controller includes haptic feedback, allowing users to feel sensations such as "the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud." Meanwhile the L2 and R2 triggers are adaptive, meaning the trigger mechanism has some measure of pressure sensitivity. The addition of such haptics necessitated a change in the angle of the triggers, as well as "subtle" updates to the grips.

A popular addition to PS4 controller is the "Share" button, a quick means for users to share game screenshots and videos. The DualSense replaces this button with a "Create" button. Sony fails to detail on the exact functionality, but claims it will provide users with "new ways" to create "epic gameplay content to share with the world." What does remain is the touchpad, now surrounded by an an LED light bar, and the controller also includes a built-in array for users not wanting to wear a headset.

Sony adds the PS5 is still set for a Q4 2020 release.
