Danish PC accessory maker SteelSeries announces the acquisition of A-Volute, the company behind the Nahimic audio software. The financial details of the deal are not available.
"With our award-winning innovations that have redefined the gaming audio experience, and our best-in-class SteelSeries Engine software, bringing A-Volute into the SteelSeries family seemed like a natural fit and we are extremely excited about partnering with Tuyen and his team,” SteelSeries says. “With their excellence in audio software, they’ll help us improve gamers’ audio experiences even further."
A-Volute is the developer of popular immersive audio solutions aimed primarily at the gaming market. It counts the likes of Dell, Gigabyte and MSI among the companies adding the sound technology to laptops and motherboards. For the unfamiliar, the software provides users with a control panel application allowing the tweaking of various audio enhancements, such as virtual surround sound mixing and audio equalisation settings.
In turn, SteelSeries plans to integrate Nahimic capabilities into the Engine audio software platform. One can also assume it will use Nahimic in products such as the Arctis Pro, a high-end headset with a GameDAC feature.
