The new design tries to be a better option for straight-keyboard users, with uniform-sized QWERTY keys-- makng it more similar to a standard keyboard.

The curvature redesign apparently also goes towards the third dimension, also in a bid to increase comfort, at least according to Microsoft.

Either way you can start offering your customers this keyboard's warping Continue reading...

No More Chargers?

Wysips proposes a means to eliminate chargers of any kind-- by turning device screens into solar chargers.

Its technology involves layering a superthin (less than 100 microns thick) transparent photovolotaic film on top of a device's display, with the film producing power from nearby light sources (be it the sun or electric lamps).

It would take 6 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge a typical mobile's battery (more if using indoor lighting). The phone automatically charges up whenever it' Continue reading...

Motion-Sensing Gestures on PC

Asus reveals its take on motion-based input with its WAVI Xtion at CeBIT 2011, combining PrimeSense technology with its Xtion Portal user interface.

The awkwardly-named device looks and works very much like the XBox Kinect-- whose motion-sensing technology was done by the same company now working with Asus.

The Xtion comes in 3 parts-- the sensor itself, and a pair of media streaming extending the users' PC desktop to a TV to which the sensor is connected (one connects to PC, the other to the sensor). All actual connections are through wireless HDMI, with a range of up to 25m.
