Nvidia has a surprise product on show at CES 2018-- "Big Format Gaming Displays" (BFGDs), an apt moniker for what is essentially a line of 65-inch 4K HDR monitors.
Being primarily aimed at high-end gamer customers, BFGDs feature a number of requisite technologies. These include 120Hz refresh rate, 4K resolution, HDR and G-Sync. Also included is means to play games without need for a PC through built-in Shield hardware.
The company says BFGs are primarily aimed at desktop use, not as a living room TV replacement, even if HDMI inputs allow the connectivity of a STBs and the like. In addition, the built-in Shield handles streaming media needs through YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video apps. Google Assistant support allows for voice control and smart assistant capability.
