Tablet Going Mainstream, Says Gartner

Gartner predicts WW tablet sales will reach 19.5 million in 2010, and surpass 208 million by 2014.

The growing tablet market will cannibalize other CE devices such as mini notebooks e-readers, gaming devices and media players. He describes the current crop of 7" tablets Continue reading...

He also says LG is yet to decide on tablet launch's timing.

This seems to confirm reports of a tablet-specific version of Google's OS being in the works.

Motorola is similarly waiting for an Android update before taking on the fast-growing, if already crowded, Continue reading...

Switchable Display for Adam Tablet

Quiet for sometime after its debut at CES 2010,  now Notion Ink says it will manufacture their Adam tablet starting November.

The manufacturer blames NVidia Tegra 250 chip problems for the delay in launching the 10" Android touchscreen device.

The Adam will be the first carrying the power-saving Pixel Qi's half-E-ink, half-LCD touchscreen technology. The display switches between full colour LCD (for indoor use) or low-power reflective mode  (gets brighter the more direct sunlight falls on it, s Continue reading...
